Gravity it might be the most important factor that applies a constant downward force on the body, influencing posture. To hold uprigth posture, the musculer system need to apply equal and opposite forces up to the body to hold the joints in an erect alignment. As the gravity pushes the body down, the muscular system works against this to hold it up. When sitting at the desk, many people adopt a very forward head position as they look at their computer screen, the same situation when looking at the mobile phone screen. This position is much more extreme than the posture adopted while standing as much time in this sitting position is spent and therefore is considered a common postural tendency that casues upper back pain.
